On June 19th, we commemorate the 1865 emancipation day where enslaved descendants of African finally gained freedom from one of the darkest eras in human history. In 2021, 250 people gathered for a meal around a huge table in Ferguson, Missouri. At the “table of brotherhood, we reflected upon the past while discussing the challenging realities of the present. Moreover, we dreamed together for the future as we reach contend for the vision of a becoming a truly healed and reconciled nation.
The Table is an opportunity to experience the healing power of family through brave conversations over dinner, and a direct way to engage in reconciliation work as we honor the past.
